Fashion photography in Puerto Rico
What makes the island work for a fashion shoot
Fashion brands keep landing here for a practical reason: the island stacks four completely different looks inside a short drive. Coastline, colonial architecture, rainforest, and city texture are all reachable in about thirty minutes of each other. For a photographer, that means you can build a multi-look lookbook in a single day instead of splitting the shoot across two locations and losing half your schedule to transit.
The light is the other half of it. Golden hour on the west coast runs long and warm, and the overcast days most crews complain about are the soft, even light that makes fabric read accurately on camera. Knowing which of those to schedule around is most of the job.
Hiring locally also removes the parts of a shoot that quietly eat the budget — flights, per diems, gear rental you could have sourced here, and the day you would have spent scouting blind. Ghost Edits has been shooting commercial photography on the island since 2022, working with local designers and with mainland brands using Puerto Rico as a shoot destination. Yes, and we do it regularly. We can handle location scouting, permit coordination, and shoot-day logistics so you’re not starting from zero when you land. Tell us how many shoot days you’re booking and we’ll build a schedule that actually fits them.
Yes — that’s the core of how we work. Tatianna leads photography and creative direction; Amanda handles cinematography and editing. It depends on the creative. The west coast around Rincón is strong for natural light, coastal texture, and uncrowded outdoor settings. Old San Juan gives you the architecture and the color. El Yunque and the interior are something else entirely. We can walk you through options based on your aesthetic before you book flights.
For a full campaign or multi-day shoot, 4–6 weeks gives us room to plan locations, permits, and logistics properly. Smaller lookbook or e-commerce sets can sometimes happen 2–3 weeks out depending on the calendar. If your window is tighter than that, ask anyway — we’ll tell you honestly whether it’s doable.
Usage is written into the agreement before the shoot so there are no surprises later. Tell us where the images need to run — web, social, wholesale decks, print, paid ads — and for how long, and we’ll scope it accordingly. We’d rather set it correctly up front than have you come back for a rights extension mid-campaign.
Every project is scoped individually — a one-day lookbook is a very different conversation than a multi-day editorial campaign with a full crew.
